You may ask how we ended up here?
Our Dad Sireli toured the world with the Fijian Barbarians in the 1980s. One rainy weekend on a tour in the UK, it was advised the team tour Cornwall as it was a lot like the islands of Fiji.
40 years, 1 wife, 3 kids and 4 grandchildren later, our Dad never left.
We have always been extremely proud of our Cornish roots.
Our mum who sadly passed came from a large sporting family in the heart of Cornwall, Camborne. Through our younger years we have represented our town in Cricket, Football and Rugby. We all enjoy nothing more than heading back to our hometown in our off season.
We are now all fortunate to be following in our Dad’s footsteps...
and playing rugby as our profession. Rugby has bought us many great experiences, one of them is being able to share a drink with various people from a range of cultures and backgrounds. This is where our passion started…
We all share the same passion and profession with rugby...
but it’s not often that the three of us actually get to all play together. We wanted a project that we could really work on as a family that allowed us to spend quality time together – this is how the idea of Matavesi Brothers Rum was born.
We wanted to create something to celebrate everything we've achieved - not only in our rugby careers but also in our personal lives, that we can pass on down the generations. We all share a love of spiced rum, a drink that reminds us of enjoying time with friends and family by the sea - whether this be Cornwall, Fiji or anywhere else in the world...
We knew we wanted to create a premium product...
and found the perfect distillery in Madrid that focused on quality, craft products and small batch production – two things that were very important to us. A lot of work has gone into creating a product that we are proud of, and we are really excited to be finally able to share this with you.
